Graham DeLaet will be one of 13 Canadian golfers who will be competing for the $6 million U.S. purse at the 2017 RBC Canadian Open. The Canadian Open will be held at the Glen Abbey Golf Club in Oakville, Ont. from Thursday, July 27 until Sunday, July 30.
The Canadians in the field have their sights set on becoming the first Canadian to capture the national title since Pat Fletcher claimed victory in 1954.
DeLaet, who is currently in 80th place in the world golf rankings, is one of the top Canadian golfers who will be competing to claim the Canadian Open.
DeLaet recently recorded a fourth-place finish last month at the Travelers Championship. Another well-known Canadian golfer competing for the title is David Hearn, who will look to build on a playoff runner-up finish at The Greenbrier Classic.
The first two rounds of the RBC Canadian Open will be aired on TSN and the Golf Channel, during competition on Thursday and Friday, July 27 and 28. The final two rounds will be aired on Global and CBS, during competition on Saturday and Sunday, July 29 and 30.
The opening ceremony for the 2017 RBC Canadian Open was held on Tuesday night. Golf icon Jack Nicklaus was on hand to officially open the RBC Canadian Open, during a public outdoor ceremony at Glen Abbey Golf Club. The opening ceremony was immediately followed by the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony.
This year, amateur champion Judy Darling Evans and legendary golf club maker Bob Vokey were both officially inducted as honoured members. Nicklaus, who was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 1995, was joined by 16 other legends of Canadian golf as part of the celebration.
