The second night of the Canadian Dirt Wars doubleheader at the Estevan Motor Speedway on Sunday produced an exciting night of racing at the track.
A total of 95 cars were entered on Sunday night, and the weather conditions were ideal for racing.
For the second straight night, Tom Berry Jr. of Newburg, N.D., who was the winner of the Dakota Classic Modified Tour earlier this month, took the checkered flag.
Tyson Turnbull of Estevan was second and Travis Hagen of Williston, N.D., was third.
Hagen, Justin Medler of Minot and Kelly Bauman of Weyburn won the heat races. Twenty-nine drivers entered the modified class Sunday night. The top five drivers from the heat races advanced to the A final. The remaining 14 drivers moved to the B-main race; the top nine finishers in the B event moved to the feature.
Also winning for the second straight night was Ryder Raynard of Estevan in the slingshot class. He made a late pass on Keenan Glasser of Estevan for the win.
Dexter Saxon was third.
Glasser won the qualifying heat race.
Landon Runge of Lampman was the winner of the hobby stock class, one night after finishing second. Leevi Runge, also of Lampman, was second, and Zach Lutz of Burlington, N.D., was third.
Brad King of Minot, Riese Dignan of Kenmare, N.D., and Leevi Runge won the qualifying heat races.
Mike Hagen of Williston, who has long been one of the most popular drivers at the speedway, was the winner in the stock car feature, holding off Estevan’s Austin Daae. Chris Hortness, another local driver, came in third.
Hagen and Jeremy Swanson of Estevan won the heat races.
Another Williston driver, Brady Bjella, won the sport mod class. Makenzie Hagen of McGregor, N.D., was second and Darren Medler of Minot came in third.
Blake Penna of Estevan was the top local driver in sixth.
Shelby Frye of Chandler, Ariz., and Bjella won the heat races.
