Many of Saskatchewan’s top curlers will be coming to Estevan in 2021.
The Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts provincial women’s curling championship and the SaskTel Tankard men’s provincial curling championship will be held at Affinity Place. The events will run from Jan. 29-Feb. 7, 2021.
Ice building begins on Jan. 25. The Scotties will run from Jan. 29-Feb. 2, and then there will be a day to transition to the Tankard. The Tankard will run from Feb. 4-7.
Ashley Howard, the executive director for CurlSask, made the announcement Friday morning during a press conference at Affinity Place. Representatives of the Estevan Curling Club, the City of Estevan, CurlSask and different levels of government were in attendance.
She noted 12 men’s and 12 women’s curling teams will be coming to Estevan for the competition. This will be the second time that the provincial men’s and women’s competitions have been held back-to-back in the same community.
This is the latest marquee curling event to come to Estevan. Previous special events have included the 2018 Tankard and the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup of Curling.
