Estevan’s Brayden Pachal has signed a professional contract.
The 20-year-old defenceman, who captained the Prince Albert Raiders to the Western Hockey League championship last season, has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon made the announcement Friday.
Pachal was invited the to Golden Knights training camp and also participated in the team's development camp in June. The Estevan native finished last season with 51 points (15 goals, 36 assists) and led all players in the WHL in plus/minus with a plus-76.
In previous years, he has participated in camps with the Ottawa Senators and the Calgary Flames.
The announcement by the Golden Knights came on the same day that the Raiders will raise their WHL championship banner to the rafters.
