Extra-curricular sports awards presented at WJH

Extra-curricular sports awards were presented to students at the Weyburn Junior High at their final assembly before the school closed its doors, held on June 28 in the school gym. The most promising cheerleader award went to Chris Gia Fesalbon.

The Grade 7 female badminton player award went to Kate Goranson, and the Grade 7 male badminton players were Zach Olson and McLaren Keslering. The Grade 8 female badminton player was Katie Robinson, and the Grade 8 male players were Lance Palao and Kyle Barrett. The most promising Grade 9 female badminton player was Kianna Cuthbert, and the male players were Lincoln Alexander and Nolan Ling.
The most promising female member of the track and field team was Emily Haupstein, and the most promising male members were Owen Hiltz and Axel Lund. The Grade 7 female track award went to Soraya Blunt, while the male award went to Alex Lund. For Grade 8, the female track award went to Chandler Dickie, and the male track award went to Brett Bowler.
The most promising member of the cross-country team was Owen Hiltz.
The Grade 7 curling award went to Jaylynn Haupstein, and the Grade 8 curling award went to Shayla Moore.
The most promising member of the curling program was Landon Field.
The junior girls MVP for basketball was Frankie Gawryluik. The Grade 7 girls basketball player award went to Soraya Blunt. The B boys basketball player award was Brayden Ealey, and the Grade 7 boys basketball player award went to John Bernal. Kianna Cutherbert was the most promising member of the A girls basketball team, and Owen Hiltz was the most promising member of the A boys basketball team.
The Grade 7 female volleyball player award went to Makenna Ling, and the Grade 7 male player was Parker Douglas.
The junior girls volleyball player award went to Kenzie Joa, and the junior boys volleyball player award went to Austin Pederson. The most inspirational member of the A girls volleyball team was Olivia Michel, and the MVP of the A boys volleyball team was Connor Guenther. The most outstanding wrestler awards went to Eric Fleming and Frankie Gawryluik.
