The Southern Range Gold Wings will face off against the Melville Prairie Fire in their “Face Off Against Breast Cancer” battle on January 23.

The Southern Range Gold Wings will face off against the Melville Prairie Fire in their “Face Off Against Breast Cancer” battle on January 23.
“Our girls are known for being a hard-working team on and off the ice as well with helping out in the community, but this year they chose to start a new war,” said a media release from the Melville Prairie Fire.
“A common killer to women, the girls have decided to give their support towards the fight against breast cancer.”
“We take pride in being female AAA hockey players, we take pride in our community and we take pride in knowing they can make a difference against one of the most common cancers against women.”
The “Face Off Against Breast Cancer” game will be held at the Horizon Credit Union Arena in Melville on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 7:30 p.m.
All proceeds will go to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. There will be door donations, a penny parade, a silent auction, and puck tosses amongst many other planned events.
“At the end of the game, a cheque will be handed to Mellissa Mish, a well-known individual within our community who at one time had to fight cancer herself,” said the release.
“She is also known for playing four years with the Prairie Fire as well. She is accepting it on behalf of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.”
