The Weyburn Richardson Pioneer Gold Wings dropped a 7-0 decision to the Notre Dame Hounds on Sunday evening, when they hosted their toque and mitten toss.
The players collected up the scarves, toques and mitts from the ice at the final buzzer, and were able to fill two bins of warm winter wear, which will be donated to local schools in the area.
Notre Dame took 34 shots on net to the Gold Wings’ 19 shots, and the Hounds went four-for-eight on the powerplay.
The Hounds’ Abbey Nimegeers was the game’s first star, and the Gold Wings’ Janna Keisig was named the second star.
The Gold Wings play a road game tonight, Dec. 20, in Melville, and then the girls are off until the weekend of Jan. 6-7, when they will open 2018 on the road in Swift Current for back-to-back games.
The following week they are in Saskatoon, and the Gold Wings won’t have a home game until Friday, Jan. 19, when they host Regina, with an 80s-themed night for the fans.
