Intense playoff series ends for the Red Wings

A bench-clearing brawl at the end of the Wednesday night game also made national headlines.
The Red Wings had started the best-of-seven series on a strong footing, after winning 4-1 in game one. Then they lost 1-0 in game two on home ice.
This was followed by back-to-back losses to the Bombers while in Flin Flon, with two 3-2 losses on March 22 and 23.
During the Wednesday night game, the Bombers had a strong second period where they scored three goals. Jarrett Fontaine scored a power play goal in the second, to get Weyburn on the board.
Jacob Jeske notched another power play goal for the Red Wings in the thir dperiod. An altercation over a ‘Moose Leg’ occurred right at the end of the game, resulting in several game misconducts for players on both teams.
The quarter final series ended with game five, which was held at Crescent Point Place on Saturday night. The Red Wings lost 3-1 to the Bombers in front of 1,599 fans.
The Bombers scored in each of the first, second and third periods for their three goals. The lone goal for the Red Wings was scored by Braden Mellon on a power play in the third period.
The Flin Flon Bombers will now head to Battleford to face the North Stars in the best-of-seven semi final series. Their first game will be in Battleford on Friday, April 1.
In the other semi-final series, the Melfort Mustangs will host the Nipawin Hawks, with their first game also on Friday, April 1 in Melfort.
The winners of the semi-finals will compete against each other in the Canalta Cup finals for the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.
