Several local high school athletes performed well at Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association cross country provincials last week in Turtleford.
Oxbow Prairie Horizons School was the top ranked high school in the 2A division with some good performances by their athletes, while Gordon F. Kells School in Carlyle was 10th. Redvers placed 14th in 1A schools. The race had a shorter length for bantams than juniors and seniors.
In senior boys, Midale's Bradon Zieglgansberger finished in 40th place with a time of 20 minutes 43 seconds, just ahead of Estevan Comprehensive School's Justin Hertes, who placed 43rd with a time of 21:12. Oxbow's Preston Carriere was 56th at 22:03.
In the senior girls race, Emily Lesy of Oxbow was 46th at 20:19 and Erin LeNouail of Redvers was 51st at 21:01. Sydney LaBelle of Carnduff was 99th with a time of 25:03 and Redvers' Kati Culbertson did not finish.
The southeast did well in the junior boys race, including Gordon F. Kells School's Tucker Sharp was 12th with a time of 16:22 while Evan James of Redvers was 18th at 16:59. Dylan Preston of Manor was 32nd at 17:30 and at 18:19, Gordon F. Kells' Brayden Hill was 50th. Oxbow's Nathan Muir placed 53rd at 18:28, Kameron Martin of Redvers was 64th at 19:39 and Ethan Dyck from Gordon Kells was 69th at 20:09.
The top performer from the southeast in the junior girls division was Madison Cuddington of Manor, who was 46th at a time of 23:13. Jessica Magotiaux of Redvers was 49th with a time of 23:33.
Nathan Simons of Gordon F. Kells was 31st in the midget boys with a time of 12:27 and just a few seconds later, Conner Gardiner was 36th with a time at 12:33. Michael Miller of Oxbow was 49th with a time of 12:52 and Jonah Dyck of Gordon F. Kells was 61st at 13:17. Rounding out the midget boys from the southeast was Dawson Greenshields of Oxbow, 88th with a time of 14:22.
Lampman's Katie Weinrauch was 33rd in the midget girls with a time of 13:51 and Olivia Grandy of Oxbow was 43rd at 14:09. Taylor Sharp of Gordon F. Kells was 65th in the race at 15:12.
