Three Saskatchewan drivers and a young Manitoba racer won the feature races at the Estevan Motor Speedway on Saturday night.

Kody Scholpp of Estevan won the modified feature, Chris Hortness of Estevan took the stock car feature and Devon Gonas of Midale captured the hobby stock feature. The Manitoba winner was Bailey Cousins of Morden, who won the slingshot class for young drivers.

Scholpp was the dominant driver in the modified division at the speedway’s season opening program two weeks earlier, but mechanical problems forced him to drop out in the final lap. There would be no stopping him on Saturday.

Kelly Baumann of Weyburn actually held the lead for most of the feature, as he started from the pole position and led for the first 14 laps in the 25-lap feature. Passing was at a premium for the modifieds, as it was for the hobby stocks and the stock cars earlier in the evening.

But a caution on the 14th lap brought the field together, and when green flag racing resume, Scholpp made his move and passed Baumann on the backstretch.

He then pulled away, and finished about six seconds ahead of Baumann.

Corey Mann was third and Joey Galloway was fourth.

Galloway leads the overall standings with 76 points through two races.

Hortness started from the outside on the first row of the stock car feature, and made an early pass to take the lead. He never relinquished the advantage, despite two early cautions that kept the field within striking distance, and edged Gregg Mann for top spot.

Lee Schaff came in third and Austin Daae was fourth.

Mann leads the overall standings with 79 points. Jeremy Swanson is second with 74 and Joren Boyce is third with 74.

The hobby stock feature was marred by a series of early cautions, as there were six yellow flags in the first six laps. Two of the cautions involved the leaders at the time of the incidents, Carl Hanson and Riley Raynard, and since they were blamed for the cautions, they were sent to the back of the field.

The final 14 laps were under green flag racing. Gonas took the lead shortly after the final caution, and then pulled away from the field. Landon Runge moved up from the 12th spot on the starting grid to finish second, Zach Lutz was third and Hanson recovered to finish fourth.

Gonas and Zach Lutz are tied for the points lead with 76 points. Riese Dignan is third with 73.

Cousins won the slingshot feature in her first program of the season. Dexter Saxon was second, Ty Saxon was third and Keenan Glasser finished fourth.

The next event will be the annual Energy City Showdown weekend on June 2 and 3. A cabaret with local band Shattered will follow the June 2 program. Sprint cars will be racing on June 3.
