Marci LeBlanc clinched the scoring title in the Saskatchewan Female Minor Hockey League’s midget AA division in style.
LeBlanc, who hails from the Outram area, had a hat trick in the South East Aaron Well Servicing Goldwings 5-2 victory over the Northeast Aces on Sunday afternoon at the Harry O Memorial Arena in Midale.
She scored twice in the first period and added another in the second to finish the game with a hat trick. LeBlanc closed out the season with 40 points, seven more than the Aces Kalli Stegemann.
LeBlanc, who is in her final season of minor hockey, also led the league in goals with 22.
“We have an awesome team this year, with great support from everyone. Of course, I’ve had awesome coaches the last few years. We all just work really well together, and I’m lucky to have a good line that is always there and ready,” said LeBlanc.
Kendra Kotylak and Gracie Hillrud have been her linemates this season.
Khloe Bedore and Jaycee McLellan had the other goals for the Goldwings, who led 5-0 at one point in the third period, until the Aces scored two quick goals on Kara Zelyck in the final frame
The win over the Aces was the final game of the season for the Goldwings. They finished the season with a 22-1-1 record and 45 points, which left them five points clear of the Saskatoon Comet Legends for first overall, and 14 points ahead of the Regina Rebels for top spot in the South Division.
The Goldwings will have a bye in the first round of the playoffs and can’t start the second round until Feb. 28. They will face the winner of the series between the Notre Dame Hounds and the Parkland Fire.
