The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins have extended their series with the Notre Dame Hounds to a fifth and deciding game.

The Estevan Apex midget AA Bruins have extended their series with the Notre Dame Hounds to a fifth and deciding game.

Estevan defeated Notre Dame 5-1 in Game 3 Friday night at Affinity Place to cut the series deficit to 2-1, and then forced Game 5 with a 4-1 victory Saturday in Wilcox.

Triston Sorenson set the tone for Friday night’s game by scoring 76 seconds into the contest. Dylan Hull doubled the lead when he scored with less than six minutes to play in the frame.

Tayce Miller’s goal was the only tally of the second, and it gave Estevan a 3-0 lead.

The Hounds scored in the opening minute of the third to pull within two, but goals by Adrien Riddell and Tanner Stovin dashed the Hounds hopes for a comeback.

The Bruins once again jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period in Game 4, with Kieran Stewart and Stovin scoring in the final four minutes of the frame.

Sorenson scored with 7:15 to play in the second to add to the lead, and Joey Meredith’s goal late in the frame left Estevan up by four.

Notre Dame would get one late in the third to spoil Zane Winter’s shutout bid. Winter was also in goal for Game 3.

Game 5 will be played Tuesday night at Affinity Place, starting at 8 p.m.
