Over 500 students attended the south division tournament for the National Archery in School Program tournament.
This event was hosted by the Weyburn Wildlife Federation at the Tom Zandee Sports Arena on Saturday. There were 32 schools that attended the event.
There were 152 student archers in the high school division (Grades 9 to 12). This included 76 girls and 76 boys in this division.
From the Weyburn Comprehensive School, three students competed in the high school division.
Keyanna Swanson, Grade 10, shot 249 out of 300 and placed 20th. Laura Foote (Grade 10) shot 198 out of 300 and placed 58th. Dakota Spencer (FIP program) shot 206 out of 300 and placed 62nd.
There were 215 student archers in the middle school division, which was Grades 6 to 8. There were 101 girls and 114 boys in this category. There were 133 student archers in the elementary school division, which was Grade 4 to 5. There were 58 girls and 75 boys competing.
The top results for the south provincial National Archery in School Program tournament was reported as follows:
Brayden Jarvis, Grade 11 student from Yorkton Regional High School, won the high school boys category. He shot 273 out of 300.
Daniella Gericke, Grade 9 student from Grenfell High School, won the high school girls category. She shot 269 out of 300.
Brad Heskin, Grade 8 student from Yorkton McKnoll Middle School, won the middle school boys category. He shot 281 out of 300. Jessica Farquharson, Grade 8 student from Saltcoats School, won the middle school girls category. She shot 278 out of 300.
Skylar Ryczak, Grade 5 student from Sturgis School, won the elementary school boys category. he shot 252 out of 300. Teagen Bolton-Zerebes, Grade 5 student from Saltcoats School, won the elementary school girls category. She shot 257 out of 300.
