ESTEVAN - The winner of the women's competition has been crowned at the Frametech Classic at the TS&M Woodlawn Golf Course.
Paige Wheeler fired a two-round total of 171 to win the event Sunday at Woodlawn. She finished 12 shots better than Maxine Starkewski.
Wheeler had an 87 in the opening round Saturday to take a five-stroke lead on Donna Reiger. Wheeler then pulled away by shooting an 84 in the second round.
Starkewski had an 89 in the second round after shooting a 94 in the first. Reiger had a 97 in Round 2 and wound up fourth with a 189.
Heather Heath wound up third after firing a 187 (97-90) over two days.
Eleven golfers were competing for the women's title.
The men's and senior men's events had their second rounds on Sunday as well, and the third and final round for both will be Monday.
In the men's division, there is a three-way tie for the lead between Chase Gedak, Daryl Donovan and Logan Chernoff. Each sits at 1-under-par 143 through two rounds.
Donovan had a 70 in the second round, while Gedak and Chernoff each had a 72.
Ryan Stovin, who had the lead after the first round, had a 75 in Round 2 and has a two-round total of 1-over 145.
The top-10 golfers are separated by seven strokes.
Seventy-nine golfers are competing in the men's event.
In senior men's, Rick Hallberg had a 5-under 67 in the second round and sits at 139 through two rounds, six strokes better than Scott Blackstock,, who shot a 145. The two were tied entering the second round.
James Gordon is third at 149 and Pat Murphy is fourth at 153.
Thirty golfers are entered the senior men's event.
An annual highlight of the tournament, the Dave Price Memorial Horse Race elimination challenge, will tee off Sunday afternoon on the 10th hole. The 12 golfers in the men's championship flight are entered. Two golfers will be knocked out of contention on each of the first two holes, and then one golfer will be eliminated on each subsequent hole.
