The Estevan Meter peewee AA Bruins had a pair of games on the road over the weekend, and they’ll be glad to be at home in the southeast finally.
In a pair of games against the Swift Current Broncos, the Bruins lost 5-2 Saturday and then came back to win 7-3 Sunday in Saskatchewan Peewee AA Hockey League action.
Saturday, the Bruins fell behind early, trailing 4-1 after the second period and couldn’t come out of the hole. Ryker Mathison and Mason Barta scored the Bruins’ goals. Ryker Davidson was the goaltender of record in the loss, and shots were unavailable.
The Bruins stormed out of the gate in their next game, grabbing a 4-1 lead on the Broncos after the first period on goals from Carter Onrait, Jayden Kuchinka, Turner Knockaert and Chase Robertson. Knockaert, Mathison and Turner Jacobson scored the rest of the Bruins goals in the game, while Robertson had three assists. Ty Fehrenbach got the win in net for the Bruins.
The Bruins’ next action will be a home game at 5 p.m. Saturday in Carlyle against the Weyburn Red Wings. They won’t play a league game at Affinity Place this year until Nov. 18 against the Melville Millionaires.
