The Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats were able to go out of town to win another home game.
The Bear Cats defeated the Weyburn Aaron Well Servicing Drillers 5-2 Monday in Carlyle as they rode a hot third period to the victory in South Saskatchewan Female Midget Hockey League action.
Karleigh Mackenzie of the Bear Cats opened the scoring at 13:39 of the first period on a goal from Bailey Farr and Brynn Kuntz. Weyburn tied it up at 16:17 of the first and the teams went through the second period scoreless.
But the Bear Cats scored early and often in the third period to skate away with the win. Jasynn Monteye scored 10 seconds into the third period from Marci LeBlanc and Ally Park. Then at 4:28, Karli Colpitts scored the first of two straight goals from Tasia Trobert. Colpitts’ second goal at 10:18 from Kuntz and Morgan Haygarth gave the team a brief three-goal lead, and Weyburn scored 14 seconds later to make it 4-2 Estevan. Haygarth’s goal at 15:22 from LeBlanc and Montayne restored the three-goal lead, which is how the game ended.
Devan Fayle was in net for the Bear Cats to earn the win.
The Bear Cats are off of game action until Dec. 15-16 when they travel to Regina to play the Ravens and the Capitals.
