The Estevan Power Tech Bear Cats won two of three road games they played last weekend.
The midget AA Bear Cats (14-8-3) played two in Moose Jaw against the Mavericks (5-15-2), splitting Friday and Saturday, and won 4-0 against the Notre Dame Hounds (2-20-2) Sunday in South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League action.
Friday, the Bear Cats won 8-5. Karleigh Mackenzie broke a 5-5 tie with a power play goal 8:02 into the third period. Marci LeBlanc scored three goals and an assist in the game, and other goals in the game were scored by Shaelyn Audette, Jasynn Montayne, Brynn Kuntz and Kayla Wanner. Devan Fayle and Myah Battersby split duties in net, combining on 37 saves in the victory.
The following day, the Bear Cats jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first but the Mavericks came back to win 6-4. Battersby stopped 27 shots in the loss. Jaycee McLellan, Montayne, LeBlanc and Wanner each scored goals.
The Bear Cats then dominated the Hounds on the scoresheet and on the shotclock in their 4-0 win Sunday. All four of Estevan’s goals came in the first period, with LeBlanc, Kelsey Pastachak, Makenna Morrison and Ally Park each scoring as the Bear Cats pounded 50 shots Notre Dame’s way. Morgan Fayle got the shutout in net with seven saves.
The Bear Cats’ next action is Tuesday against the Parkland Lions (4-17-3). They’re then home Feb. 9-10 against Swift Current (14-8-4) at the Power Dodge Ice Centre to close out the regular season.
