With some regulars out of the lineup in the hobby stocks, street stocks and modifieds – and a largely caution-less racing with one noticeable exception — it was a quick night of racing Friday at the Estevan Motor Speedway.
While the Hobby Stock race ended four laps earlier than anticipated after a crash that flipped one of the vehicles, Zach Lutz will take the win regardless. Byron Fichter Mayor's car was loose coming out of turn four and he ended up facing the wall, as Karen Parachoniak was stuck at the top going straightaway speed and hit him, flipping Fichter Mayor's car and severely damaging Parachoniak's car.
Lutz was second place in the High Energy Performance points standings to Devon Gonas coming into the night, training him 227 to 222.
Jeremy Swanson took the Energy Electric stock cars race with a strong last half of the race. He passed Austin Daae with about nine laps to go and Swanson (251) trailed Daae (258) and Gregg Mann (273) in the points standings coming into the night.
Jett Big Eagle climbed a few spots in the points race after a fairly dominant win once he got the lead in the Kendall's Supply Modifieds race. He had 189 going into the night, in 11th place behind leader Joey Galloway.
The next night of racing will be the fourth annual Calcutta Race Aug. 19, with a live auction of teams.
