It was a quiet week in the Big Six Hockey League, so there wasn’t a lot of movement in the standings.
The Carnduff Red Devils stayed on top with a 9-1 win over the Wawota Flyers Sunday and a 7-3 victory over Yellow Grass Wheat Kings on Saturday.
Trevor Geiger scored four for goals and an assist for the Red Devils over Wawota, and Brandon Trask chipped in a goal and three assists.
It wasn’t a good weekend for Wawota, as they also lost 6-0 to the Redvers Rockets when they travelled there Friday. Dakota Rose scored three in that game for Redvers, while Thomas Bauche picked up the shutout in the net for the Rockets.
Redvers went on for an 8-2 win Saturday over the Arcola/Kisbey Combines. Drew Hoff scored twice for Redvers, and Jordon Miller and Brady Gaudet scored a goal and two assists each.
Carlyle raised some eyebrows with their second win of the year in a 6-2 decision over the Beinfait Coalers. Brett Turgeon led the way offensively with two goals and an assist for Carlyle, while Blair Toms and Ben Johnstone each scored a goal and an assist. The Coalers only had 12 skaters in the road game.
This weekend is the third last weekend for the Big Six, so the games are of ever-increasing importance for league playoff position. Friday, Wawota is at Arcola/Kisbey, Bienfait is at Carnduff and Oxbow is at Midale. Saturday, Wawota is at Bienfait and Redvers is at Yellow Grass. Then on Sunday, Midale is at Carnduff and Yellow Grass is at Oxbow.
