The Weyburn Red Wings board of directors elected their positions on June 21, following their annual general meeting.
Brent Stephanson has been elected as the new president, after serving one year on the board as alternate governor. Stephanson is the owner/operator of Weimer’s Hometown, a local furniture and appliance store in Weyburn.
“I’m super excited about the direction the team has taken with our new board in place,” expressed Stephanson who is eager for puck drop in the fall. “I’m really looking forward to a successful season for the Red Wings, both on and off the ice.”
Former Red Wing, Dr. John Corrigan, was elected as vice president in what will be his first year on the board of directors. Corrigan brings experience after spending time on numerous national, provincial and local boards.
Corrigan is a chiropractor by profession in Weyburn, but many still know him as a former Red Wing who helped bring a National Championship to Weyburn in 1984. He will also be inducted into the Saskatchewan Hockey Hall Of Fame as a member of the ‘84 Red Wings at the upcoming banquet being held in Weyburn on July 8.
Another former Red Wing and also a member of the 1984 team is Mark Schneider, who was voted in as the team governor. Former governor, Jean Hobbs, will stay involved as the alternate governor.
Finally, Wendy Forsberg who currently works for Golden West Radio in Weyburn, will implement her business expertise as team treasurer.
The rest of the board is composed of directors Larry Tribiger, Shawn Cox, Shawn Crandall, Pete Tatarliov, Val Tribiger, Dave Lazurko, Michelle Giroux, Scott Pohl and Ron Fellner.
