The Red Wings will host their annual spring camp on March 25 and 26. Head coach Wes Rudy and assistant coaches Brock Appleyard and Tucker Neuberger will attend the spring camp to recruit players who have the skill and persistence to guide the team into the future.
Registration will run on Saturday March 25 from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Ice times will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday and will end mid to late afternoon on Sunday.
Head coach Rudy and assistant coaches Appleyard and Neuberger will guide the team into the 2017/2018 season.
During the hockey season, Red Wing players showcase their talents to NCAA, CIS (Canadian Universities), WHL and professional scouts. Game highlights are sent out regularly and live streaming games are available to WHL, NCAA and CIS schools and families.
The route to the NHL through Junior A and College is improving noticeably with professional teams taking more college players every season. Approximately 30 per cent of all NHL players have played at NCAA colleges.
Interested players may continue their education at the Weyburn Comprehensive High School, or the Southeast Regional College. Players may also take on-line classes if you wish.
Due to an active Red Wing Alumni, players who play with the Wings as a 20-year-old may receive a $750.00 scholarship for each season they have played with the team.  Another contribution by the alumni has been their financial and construction assistance in the completed players, coaches’, trainers’ and media rooms at Crescent Point Place.
Career enhancements for players include: morning practices, strength and flexibility classes, use of a first class gym,  top-line equipment and sticks, room and board with local families, room and board while on road trips, and the use of charter buses, all of  which is all paid for by the team. Team laundry is done daily and possible part-time employment is encouraged for players.
The Red Wings are a 57 year franchise, with a proud tradition and rich future. The spring camp is an opportunity for players to develop a rich and full life experience that will make a difference in their future. Registration forms are available on the Red Wing website.
