The Weyburn Red Wings, along with Knight Dodge, will host the third annual Calcutta Shootout Fundraiser on Saturday, March 4. The Calcutta Shootout will take place following the final regular season home game versus the Estevan Bruins.
Fans will have a chance to bid on players, for a chance to win a portion of the total pot. Not only will it be just Weyburn Red Wing players in the shootout, there are two spots available for fan shooters. Fans can bid on themselves, and participate in the shootout. There will also be one mystery shooter eligible for bidding.
There is also some new twists this year. Eight Red Wings players will be competing for the title of “Fastest Skater” and each will be available for bidding starting at $50. The person who bids on the winner of the fastest skater, will take home half of the total pot for the fastest skater contest.
Halfway through the shootout there will be an intermission to give the goalies a rest. At this time, there will be a hardest shot competition. The eight players taking part in the hardest shot are listed on the Red Wings website, and each will be available for bidding starting at $50.
