A special Riderville Block Party will be held to raise funds for the Weyburn Minor Football organization and their new football field. The Riderville Block Party, presented by Special Blend, will be held at the Weyburn Curling Rink on Saturday, August 19 from 5 to 10 p.m.
“There will be special guests all day which include the Rider cheer squad, the Rider pep band, Gainer the Gopher and several Roughrider players will also be available to meet and sign autographs,” said Jody Kerr, representative of the Weyburn Minor Football organization.
A full service bar loaded with Special Blend spirits for purchase with all proceeds going to Weyburn Minor Football will be open for the whole event. Prairie Sky Co-op has sponsored a barbecue during the day, so that all food purchases will benefit the Weyburn Minor Football.
“There will be activities inside and outside the Curling Rink for the duration of the event, depending on the weather,” said Kerr. “If weather does not cooperate, all activities will be inside the Curling Rink.”
All activities are free of charge as the event is completely sponsored by Special Blend. There will be a children’s zone with numerous activities that will test their skills and let them act like one of their Roughrider heroes.
As a major part of the fundraising for the day, a 50/50 draw and several raffle prizes will be available. One of the major prizes of the night will be a section of turf from the old Mosaic stadium, which will have the look and feel as a pregame on the practice field with some extras mixed in.
