Bruins defenceman David Robertson looks to keep Battlefords North Stars forward Nick Fountain to the outside during the third game of the series on March 18.

The Estevan Bruins made perhaps the biggest trade of the Dec. 1 SJHL cutdown deadline, shipping veteran defenceman David Robertson to the MJHL's Portage Terriers for future considerations on Monday night.

The Terriers, who are hosting this year's RBC Cup, also get the rights to Corey Petrash, a 20-year-old forward who spent the last two years in the USHL. The Bruins acquired his rights two years ago from Virden for Eric Baldwin.

The trade also concludes the futures in the Tyler Kauk trade from last year.

Robertson, 20, was in his third year with the Bruins. The trade sends the Boissevain native back to his home province. Robertson's leadership, gritty style of play and occasional fights made him a fan favourite in Estevan.

He had two goals and six points through 24 games this year, along with 40 penalty minutes. Last season, he put up five goals and 21 points, with 95 penalty minutes.
