The ten teams in the Saskota Baseball League will be hitting the diamonds soon for the annual senior baseball season.

The league has set May 15 as their opening date. The Wawota Pats won’t be in the league this year after taking a leave of absence but have been replaced by the Kipling Royals.

The Estevan Tower Wolves (13-4-1 last season) are the defending league champions after their Harbourne Memorial Trophy winning tournament.

Their chief competition will likely be the Carlyle Cardinals (12-3-3), who tied the Tower Wolves with a .750 winning percentage in the regular season. The Arcola Threshers were only a game behind the two teams in the regular season, and the Oxbow Chiefs (10-4-4) weren’t far behind them.

Other teams that will be among the competition will be the Kenosee Cubs (8-7-3), Carnduff Astros (8-9-1), Redvers A’s (7-9-2), Windthorst Pirates (3-12-3) and Southeast Fireballs (0-16-2).

The league’s schedule is expected to be posted on their website on May 9.
