The 10 teams in the Saskota Baseball League were busy on Tuesday night, thanks to a full slate of games.

The league-leading Carlyle Cardinals rattled off a 16-2 win over the host Wawota Pats to improve their record to 9-2-1. The Estevan Tower Wolves (8-2-1) kept pace with a 7-0 victory over the visiting Kenosee Cubs. The Wolves sit just a half a game back of the Cardinals in the standings.

Still in close striking distance of top spot are the Arcola Threshers. They defeated the Carnduff Astros 7-5 in Carnduff, and with a 9-4 record, they are just a game behind the Cardinals for top spot with only a few weeks to play in the regular season.

There is now some separation from first to fourth place. The Oxbow Chiefs sit fourth overall, two games behind the Cardinals, with a 7-4-3 record. They crushed the Windthorst Pirates 10-1 on Tuesday night.

Half a game back of the Chiefs are the Astros (7-5), and the Cubs (5-4-3) are a half-game back of Carnduff.

The Redvers A’s strengthened their grip on seventh with a 17-2 victory over the Southeast Fireballs on Tuesday night at Mets Stadium in Estevan. The A’s record now stands at 5-7-1. The Flyers (4-8) occupy eighth overall.

The top eight teams qualify for the year-end Harbourne Tournament in Carlyle and Kenosee Lake on July 28 and 29.

Windthorst (2-10) sits ninth and the Fireballs (0-10-1) are 10th.

A couple of rare weekend games are slated for the league, as teams try make up for postponed contests, and improve their place in the standings. The Cubs will visit the A’s on Friday night at 6:30 p.m., and the Tower Wolves will be in Arcola to play the Threshers on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Five games are scheduled for Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. The Threshers will host the Cardinals in a battle of two of the top teams in the league. The Cubs will be at the Astros and the Pats will visit the A’s in games involving teams close to each other in the standings.

Also on the docket are the Tower Wolves at Windthorst and the Chiefs at the Fireballs.

Three more games are scheduled for Thursday night. The Fireballs will visit the Arcola Threshers and the Cubs will travel down Highway 9 to play the Cardinals. Both games are at 6:30 p.m. Also, the Carnduff Astros will visit the Tower Wolves at Lynn Prime Field at 8:30 p.m.
