The Estevan Bruins annual fall training camp is underway.
Approximately 45 players are in Estevan for this weekend's camp, and they have been divided into three teams. Each squad has a mixture of returning veterans, experienced junior A hockey players, first-year hopefuls and longer-term prospects.
Camp began Thursday with registration, meetings and practices.
Friday opened with a goalie session and then the scrimmages are happening. Team Gold defeated Team Black 2-1 in the first scrimmage. Black will play White at 3 p.m. Friday, and White plays Gold at 6 p.m.
A rookies versus prospects game will be played at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and the Bruins annual Black vs. Gold intersquad game will be Saturday night at 7 p.m. The winner of that game receives the Gerry Aspen Cup.
Be sure to check out www.estevanmercury.ca on Saturday night for a recap of the intersquad game, and see next week's Mercury for a full recap of camp.
