The Southeast Connection Sport, Culture and Recreation District held a HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development workshop on Friday, June 27th at the Weyburn Credit Union Community Room.
The HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development is a one-day training workshop designed to enhance a leader's ability to provide quality experiences for children aged 6 to 12 in sport and recreation programs.
The workshop provides in-depth training on the five principles of healthy child development that are essential for quality programs: a caring adult, play, friends, participation and mastery. These principles support quality experiences for children - the kind of experiences HIGH FIVE helps to deliver.
Fourteen summer programs leaders from the communities of Weyburn, Estevan, White City, Edenwold, Kronau, Oxbow and Carlyle attended the workshop.
These leaders left the workshop equipped with the knowledge and tools to make appropriate programming decisions based on healthy child development.
