Sharks club members perform well in Calgary

Members of the Estevan Sharks Water Polo Club had a very good weekend in a big tournament last weekend in Calgary.

Members of the Estevan Sharks Water Polo Club had a very good weekend in a big tournament last weekend in Calgary.

Over the last six months, a total of 18 atom and bantam members of the water polo club have trained on Friday nights to receive additional training. The training takes place in Weyburn three times a month and at Estevan once a month as the elite Water Polo Sask Developmental Camp brings in Team Sask coaches from Regina. They also attend a training session one weekend a month in Regina where they spend between six to 10 hours in the pool on techniques and endurance.

Team Saskatchewan members from across the province joined forces on teams at the John Csiskos Alberta Open Water Polo Tournament March 15-18 in Calgary. Saskatchewan had five teams in the tournament and many of them won medals.

The U12 girls placed fourth, the U12 boys finished with the bronze medal, the U14 girls white team won silver and bronze, the U14 girls green team won gold and the u14 boys won gold.
