The Estevan Sharks mini atom, with Isabella Pakish, and atom team welcomed two clubs from both Regina and Weyburn to Affinity Place on Sunday for their first home tournament of the season. In total, 75 kids competed in the tournament.

The Estevan Sharks water polo club kicked off their season this weekend with two tournaments. On Saturday the cadet girls travelled to Regina for their first tournament, and considering most of the girls are under cadet age, they did well coming in third for the tournament.

The atoms and mini atoms also had their first tournament here in Estevan. The mini atom team, which consisted of players aged seven and under, fell short losing all of their games, but their coach Lucinda Milford is optimistic that this group of eager youngsters will bounce back. This is their first year of play and the first tournament for all of the Estevan mini atoms, whereas their competition did have second and third year players on their teams.

The Estevan Shark atom division submitted three teams into the tournament with our Estevan atom Orange team coming in first place at the tournament by winning all six of their games. The other teams were Estevan Red which won four out of six games and Estevan Blue, who won two out of six games.

The point of this first tournament is to help our new players figure out the game and for our returning players to brush up on their skills. Our next atom tournament will be in Regina in November and this is where we really expect our Estevan teams to shine.

The Estevan Shark bantam girls and bantam boys are up next weekend for their first tournament in Regina.
