The Estevan KPC Mosquito AA Sluggers opened their season by playing doubleheaders against the Regina White Sox and the Weyburn Beavers on the weekend.

The games against the White Sox were played on Saturday at Cactus Park, and the games against the Beavers were Sunday in Weyburn.

(Scores from the games were not available).

Coach Nick Mayer said they batted really well in the four games of the season, and the pitchers were okay.

The club will be putting an emphasis on defence during practice this week, particularly when it comes to their play in the outfield.

Mayer said the team is comprised of eight, nine and 10-year-olds, and the focus throughout this season will be improving the fundamentals of the players.

The Sluggers will play four league games in Regina this weekend. First they will face the White Sox in a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, and then they will play the Regina Buffaloes on Sunday afternoon in another doubleheader.
