The Estevan Strippers hockey team has shown their support for the City of Estevan’s parent and tot skate program by making a donation of $2,000.
Steve Godfrey with the Strippers made the presentation to Erin Wilson, the program manager for the City of Estevan’s leisure services division. Also on hand were Riley Tetreault and Dominic Cote from Baker Hughes, who supports the safe ride home program offered at the Strippers Spring Bust recreation hockey tournament each year.
This year’s tournament will be held from April 10-14 at Affinity Place, the Power Dodge Ice Centre and the Bienfait Memorial Arena. Forty teams, including eight women’s squads, will be entered, making it the largest recreation hockey tournament in the province.
There will also be a social area set up at the Power Dodge Curling Club each night, with a cabaret the nights of April 12 and 13.
Godfrey pointed out that the tournament serves as a fundraiser, and the Strippers have been able to support many causes in the community over the years thanks to funds generated.
Next week’s edition of the Mercury will have more on the tournament.
