The Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport is inviting cities to submit bids to host the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games. The Games' host will see a $1.5 million investment by the provincial government in support of bringing the games to Saskatchewan.

Seen as a great opportunity to stem growth to the host city, the Volunteer Chair of the 1999 Games, Howard Gange said "One of the greatest things about hosting events such as this one is the legacy they leave behind with the community".

Parks, Culture and Sport Minister Mark Docherty added, "These games offer a great opportunity to showcase our province, our athletes and the community in which the games are held."

The Summer Games includes athletes from the four western provinces and three territories: British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and Yukon Territory. The games feature approximately 18 sports and showcase the talents of Canada's finest young athletes.

Interested communities are asked to submit a letter of intent to the ministry by December 12 with a final bid package being required by March 14, 2015. The host city will be chosen with the dual effort of both the Ministry and The Saskatchewan Games Council. The selection process will include a site selection committee touring eligible communities and will see the winner being announced in May of 2015. The host community will mark Saskatchewan's fifth time hosting the event.
