The Estevan Taekwon-Do Club held its semi-annual belt testing on Jan. 18 at Spruce Ridge School.
The club had 26 students from white belt to red belt test and promote to their next belt level.
The promotion system used in the Global Taekwon-do Federation is a 10-grade belt system. It starts at Grade 10, which is a white belt beginner up to Grade 1, which is a black stripe and the last grade before testing for black belt. The colours go in order of white, yellow, green, blue, red and black with a stripe being added in between colours.
The promotion results are as follows:
- Maddexx Steinke, Elizabeth Radke, Cyrus Osano, Emma Johnston, Carter Abbott, Santino Josol, Christa Kurtz, Charece Petican, Kurt Parkin, Joshua McKeen and Lisa Parkin were promoted to yellow stripe, Grade 9;
- Sophia Ramos, Rey Lubreo, Eva Schmidt, Marina Troyo, John Alvento, Claire Mowchenko, Thessa Espina, Tristan Parkin, Liamlei Casilihan, Maxx Janecke, Lazarus Stuble and Kyle Lubreo were promoted to green stripe, Grade 7;
- Maksym Kratko promoted to blue stripe, Grade 5;
- Charles Gaignard promoted to red stripe, Grade 3; and
- Miquela Ratushniak promoted to black stripe, Grade 1.
