The Red Wings traded 1996-born defenseman Tanner Reynolds, and a 2016 fourth round pick to the La Ronge Ice Wolves in exchange for a 2017 second-round pick and future considerations.
The Red Wings brought in 1995-born defenseman Mason Anderson, who was acquired from the Waterloo Blackhawks of the USHL. Mason played 20 games with the Red Wings in the 2013-14 season, posting one goal, seven assists, and 34 penalty minutes. Anderson, originally from Anchorage, joins fellow Alaskans Drake Glover and Aidan Teilborg on the Red Wings roster.
Then the Red Wings traded 1997-forward Chris Van Os-Shaw and a 2016 third round pick to the Humboldt Broncos in exchange for 1995-forward Jarrett Fontaine. Fontaine brings wealth of experience to the Red Wings offense, putting up 91 points in 145 SJHL games.
Fontaine also put up 26 points with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League from 2011-2013.
Both Fontaine and Anderson were in the Red Wings line up for their weekend games.
During a Friday night game in Notre Dame, the Red Wings claimed a 2-1 shootout win.
There was no scoring by either team in the first or the second periods.
Then both teams notched a goal each in the third period. Fontaine scored his first goal for the Red Wings since being acquired, with assists from Ian Parker and Anderson.
After neither team were able to score in the overtime period, the game was sent into a shootout period.
Both Carson Rose and Fontaine scored goals during the shootout period for the win, with the Hounds shooters prevented from scoring any goals.
Jack Burgart was in net for the Red Wings, and he stopped 34 out of 35 shots.
Then while in Yorkton on Saturday night, the Red Wings notched a 4-2 win.
In the first period, Fontaine scored a goal, with assists from Parker and Jayden Syrota. Then Parker scored on a power play, with assists from Tucker Neuberger and Connor Burk.
Both teams notched a goal each in the second and the third period.
Tyran brown scored in the second period, with assists from Rose and Evan Cusmano, while Blake Dempsey scored into an empty net during the final minute of the second period, with an assist from Drake Glover.
Burgart was in net for the Wings, and he stopped 40 out of 42 shots.
The Red Wings are now heading into the last few weeks before the end of the regular season. They have 19 games left to play.
The Wings will host two home games this weekend, with the Battlefords North Stars in town on Friday, Jan. 15, and the Melfort Mustangs hosted on Saturday, Jan. 16. Both home games will be held at Crescent Point Place and will start at 7:30 p.m.
