TS&M Bruins split weekend up north

The Estevan TS&M Bruins performed well enough to win a game up in the northern half of the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League – never a sure task – but weren’t able to sweep the weekend.

The Bruins (7-11-2) won 5-3 over the Battlefords Barons (0-18-0-1) Saturday and lost 5-1 to the Saskatoon Outlaws (16-4-1-1) Sunday.

Saturday’s game was scoreless until midway through the second when Colby Cuddington scored on the power play. Turner McMillen helped lead the way with a pair of third period goals, and the Bruins also got goals from Mason Kukura and Adrien Riddell.  Zane Winter played the entire game in net.

On Sunday, the high-flying Outlaws outshot the Bruins 42-9, going up 5-0 before the Bruins responded with a goal from Kukura 13:58 into the third period.

Their next games are three at Affinity Place this weekend – Friday at 8 p.m. against the Yorkton Terriers (8-11-2-0), Saturday at 4 p.m. against the Martensville Marauders (10-8-3-0) and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. against the Regina Aces (8-9-3-0).
