The Estevan Voltz are forming their identities as teams as their first season with the unified name gets underway.
The bantams won their side of the tournament in Swift Current, defeating Swift Current White with a 9-1 score for the gold medal.
To open their side of the tournament, they defeated Swift Current White 4-3 and followed that with a 10-0 defeat of the Weyburn Thrashers. They played the Moose Jaw Mustangs in the semifinal, beating them 5-4.
The peewee Voltz weren’t able to come away with any wins but the team were able to bond well and showed improvement, according to manager Michelle Lemcke.
The peewee Voltz lost their first game 12-1 to the Swift Current Rampage Blue with Hayden Lheritier scoring the lone goal. They lost 9-3 to the Moose Jaw Mustangs in the following game. Adam Bohlken, Kristian Baniulis and Chase Foord scored the Voltz’ goals in the game.
The Voltz’ third game was a thrilling 5-4 defeat at the hands of the Weyburn Thrashers. Corby Lemcke scored two, and Carson Seemann and Tye Farnsworth scored the others. Weyburn came from behind in the third period to win, scoring their final goal with 2:23 left in the period.
