The Rockstar Energy Motocross National Series comes to the Moto Valley Raceway in Regina for the first time on June 21, and one Weyburn racer will be there.

Braeden Bechard's love of racing began at a young age. Having grown up on a farm he and his two brothers would spend their time racing 1973 Z50s. At the age of ten his dad bought him a 1997 kx60 and he started off on his racing career. By the time Bechard was 12 he was placing in the top 10.

Last year was his most successful year to date. After training really hard, he won the Intermediate MX2 class and came in 3rd in the GP Pro class. This year he is moving up to the Pro MX2 level.

For Bechard, racing is truly a family sport. His family is active within their local club, his mom is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Weyburn Motocross Club, and he volunteers his time with track maintenance and the riding clinics we put on for new/young riders.

Though he has the support of his family and works throughout school and holidays to cover expense, Bechard is looking to gain sponsorships this year so he can spend more time focusing on training.
