The Rae Ann Williamson rink has punched their ticket for the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts women’s curling provincials later this month in Melville.
Williamson, who is from Estevan, defeated Jessica Mitchell 9-2 Sunday in the C final of the Last Chance Bonspiel at the Power Dodge Curling Centre. Williamson stole four in the second and one in the third to lead 5-0.
It was a 6-2 lead for Williamson through six ends, but then Williamson scored three in the seventh, leading to the teams shaking hands.
Williamson opened the tournament with an 8-7 win over Mandy Selzer. Then there was an 8-3 loss to Mitchell and a 7-4 loss to Sherry Just, putting Williamson in the C event.
But she rallied with three straight wins in must-win games: 10-7 over Jade Bloor, 10-4 over Just and then the win over Mitchell.
Other members of the Williamson rink team were third local curler Alex Meyer, second Chantel Martin and lead Amanda Kuzyk.
The provincial tournament will run from Jan. 24-28 in Melville.
