The young people who will be part of the Junior Stars program at the 2018 SaskTel Tankard men's provincial curling championships have been announced.
Sixteen curlers will be part of the initiative. Each curler will be partnered as an honourary member with a team entered at the Tankard. They will get the opportunity to interact with the teams, learn more about the game and get a unique experience at the Tankard.
The curlers selected for the program are Abby Renkas, Genevieve Pryce, Taylor Haux, Kayden DeBruyne, Kristen Carlson, Makenzie Kitz, Gerren Petit, April McMillen, Braydon Ludtke, Haydon Willock, Sydney Willock, Alex Spencer, Kaylee Carlson, Tallynn Kitz, Logan Yurkowski and Lily Haygarth.
Pam Dechief, who is in charge of the Junior Stars program, said the youth entered a contest and were selected at random.
She said she was excited when she saw the applications for Junior Stars, and the calibre of the young curlers.
"It's quite incredible how much curling experience you have and curling experience you have coming up," said Dechief.
The Tankard will take place from Jan. 31 to Feb. 4, 2018.
