Cheers:
Cheers to the staff of the Estevan Humane Society, who had to hike in from Fourth Avenue South to the animal shelter to keep animals fed and dry during the storms last week.
Cheers to the organizers of the first Pride Week in Estevan. It’s great to see the rainbow flag flying at City Hall, and it was encouraging to see so many people at a rally on Monday.
Cheers to the Estevan Alliance Church for hosting Energize the Street on the weekend. The kids all had a lot of fun at the activities.
Cheers to the graduating class at the Estevan Comprehensive School, and to the grads from the other schools in the region.
Cheers to Affinity Credit Union for hosting a fundraiser barbecue for Special Olympics in Estevan. It raised $365 for the athletes.
Jeers:
Jeers to using a water truck instead of using the underground sprinklers that were installed in the newly refurbished medians on Souris Avenue North.
Jeers to the person who was trying to eavesdrop on a conversation at a table while having a Father's Day breakfast at a local restaurant.
Jeers to the people who continue to make calls, pretending to be from Revenue Canada, in an effort to scam us. Everyone knows it’s a scam. Time to try something different, or, better yet, do something legal.
Jeers to the idiot who was seemingly upset that emergency services weren’t stopping to give him a ride during the storm last week. Police and fire crews had far more pressing things to do than play taxi.
Jeers to those who view Habitat for Humanity as giving somebody a hand out. It’s a great organization that has helped a lot of people around the world.
