Cheers:
Cheers to City of Estevan parks manager Rod March and the parks staff for having Padwick Park up and running so early this year. It looks beautiful and kids are having a blast.
Cheers to the City of Estevan’s public works staff for setting up and preparing Estevan’s triathlon course. The streets were clean and the signs were easy to see.
Cheers to the Rotary Club of Estevan for hosting Lobsterfest. The lobsters were great, the lineup moved quickly and it seemed like everybody had a great time.
Cheers to the Estevan Comprehensive School’s entrepreneurship students on winning the award for the top business in the province for Eminent Apparel.
Cheers to all the young people who were selected to be torch bearers for the upcoming Saskatchewan Summer Games. It will be a great day for them.
Cheers to all of the volunteers who chipped in during the United Way Estevan’s recent Day of Caring. A lot of people benefitted from the efforts of others.
Cheers to those who hosted show and shine events recently. It was great to see all the classic vehicles on display.
Jeers:
Jeers to the check stop on 13th Avenue after the Theresa Caputo show. Traffic was congested enough, and to have a couple of officers stopping every vehicle and checking for drunk drivers was pretty unreasonable.
Jeers to companies that have been hiring out-of-province workers when qualified local workers are idle and unemployed due to the drop in the price of oil.
Jeers to businesses who do not offer a fair exchange on American money. We should be doing all we can to encourage our American friends to shop here.
Jeers to the people who don’t declare items they are bringing across the Canada-U.S. border. It would be so much easier (and cheaper) if they merely declared them.
Jeers to the people who were most recently arrested for impaired driving. It makes you wonder if some people will ever get the message.
Jeers to those who walk their dogs through the fair grounds, and don’t take a bag to clean up after their dogs. There are a lot of little kids and people who walk through the grounds, and they shouldn’t have to worry about stepping in a dog’s mess.
Jeers to the driver who ignored the barricades on Kensington Avenue last week. The road is under construction, and driving through there probably isn’t the brightest idea.
