Man pleads guilty to death on Yellow Quill First Nation

MELFORT – A new development in the case of man, arrested in connection with a death on the Yellow Quill First Nation.

In Melfort Court of King’s Bench on Tuesday, 27-year-old Cole Smokeyday pleaded guilty to manslaughter and assault.

He was sentenced to 31-hundred days in prison, but was given credit for 540 days already served in custody.

Last August, Rose Valley RCMP received a report of an injured woman at a home on Yellow Quill.

24-year-old Terrance Tony-Kishayinew was pronounced dead at the scene.
