MJ Smile Cookie Campaign raises over $34K for Child Nutrition Program

The 2025 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign has once again proven the power of community generosity, raising $34,276.54.

MOOSE JAW — Now that the official numbers are in, the 2025 Tim Hortons Smile Cookie Campaign has once again proven the power of community generosity, raising $34,276.54 in support of Hunger in Moose Jaw’s Child Nutrition Program.

The annual fundraising campaign, which ran from April 28 to May 4, saw 100 per cent of proceeds from each $1 Smile Cookie sold at participating Tim Hortons locations directed to charity. This year, Hunger in Moose Jaw was the chosen recipient.

“It’s fantastic,” said Sharla Sept, executive director of Hunger in Moose Jaw. “It will go straight into our Child Nutrition Program, which is our daily lunch program within the schools here in Moose Jaw.”

The Child Nutrition Program, operated by Hunger in Moose Jaw, provides a free, nutritious lunch for children who may otherwise go without a consistent, balanced meal in schools throughout the city.

The program is designed to support any student who requires a daily meal, helping to alleviate food insecurity among children and promote learning and well-being. Parents interested in the service can apply through their child’s school, which then coordinates directly with Hunger in Moose Jaw to ensure that lunch is delivered when needed.

Currently, the program serves approximately 465 children each school day, highlighting its essential role in the community.

The campaign’s success was bolstered by a dedicated group of approximately 36 volunteers who helped decorate Smile Cookies throughout the week of the project.

“We had some (of our) staff (volunteer to decorate cookies), but we also had board members from Hunger in Moose Jaw and community volunteers (helping out), which was great,” said Sept.

The project even drew outside support from the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce, JGL Livestock, and RBC, which all had volunteers sign up to lend a hand — and a smile.

Sept expressed heartfelt appreciation to everyone involved. “Thanks to the community of Moose Jaw for supporting this campaign. Thanks to Tim Hortons here in Moose Jaw — to the management and staff — for allowing us to have this opportunity. It makes a huge impact on our budget throughout the year.”
