New court date for man accused of shooting Punnichy Mountie

PUNNICHY – A Muskowekwan First Nation man charged following the shooting of an RCMP officer on the reserve, has appeared in court again.

An incident in the community July 24 involving a firearm, left a Mountie with non-life-threatening injuries, and a dangerous person alert was issued for 28-year-old Elijah Albert, who was arrested a short time later in a rural area near Lestock.

Albert appeared in Punnichy Provincial Court on Tuesday facing four charges, including attempted murder and uttering threats.

He was remanded in custody for his next appearance, set for Aug. 26.
