Regina Thunder ready for PFC week two match-up in Calgary

The defending PFC champion Regina Thunder will continue their tour of Alberta this weekend, stopping in Calgary on Sunday to play the Colts.

After opening the season with a 35-19 win in Edmonton against the Wildcats in week one, Thunder head coach Scott MacAulay is looking for improvement in all three phases against the 0-1 Colts.

"We are looking to build on the good things we accomplished during week one in Edmonton. Calgary has a very strong defence and has the ability to create turnovers. We will need to protect the ball and control the line of scrimmage, which is an important key to victory.”

Running back Peter Boersch earned the PFC offensive player of the week honours, running for 310 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries. He feels the Thunder can be better.

“We're only gonna get more and more comfortable with our systems, and our playbook is only gonna expand, right? As long as we're all assignment sound there's no reason we can't have another fun day.”

MacAulay has been impressed by what he has seen on film from the Colts.

“They are very, very athletic, and they are very fast. So I think we have to be able to make sure our guys are working together, and we need to be physical. They do look big. They do look fast. But I think our guys, if they play physical, might start to wear them down and open up their eyes a little bit.”
