Saskatchewan Roughriders' coach Corey Mace is ready to get some kicks in.

You have to admit it, the Saskatchewan Roughriders certainly know how to get their kicks.

The Green and White released 17 players over the weekend in order to get down to the Canadian Football League's 45-man roster limit. In addition to the releases, the Riders moved punter Bailey Flint to the suspended list, while fellow punter Joe Couch was placed on the practice roster.

Head coach Corey Mace says they do have a plan for punting despite not having one on the active roster.

"We want to make sure we've got some other competition out there.  If you see me punting, I'm pretty sweet. Sam Emilus has a good leg. But we got one in the building, and we're happy with Joe, to keep him around. So we'll see how it shakes out game day."

The Riders will open the regular season on Thursday night when they host Ottawa in the league's kickoff game.
