Be aware of summer safety for children

Dear Editor,

As The War Amps Regional Representative for Saskatchewan and a Safety Ambassador for the PLAYSAFE Program, I have met people who have lost limbs in accidents that could have been prevented. With the weather warming up, it’s a good time to teach kids about the dangers that can come with summer, such as lawn mowers, boat motors and playing around water areas.

I encourage parents to pass on the PLAYSAFE message to their kids in hopes of preventing serious injury or loss of a limb. I also suggest going on a “safety walk” with your children and pointing out the dangers in your area.

It only takes a split second for an accident to happen, so let’s all PLAYSAFE!
