The Saskatchewan SPCA is looking for assistance following the seizure of 80 dogs from a Wadena area residence.

On Friday June 4, 2010 members of the RCMP Wadena/Foam Lake Detachment along with members of the Saskatchewan Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) executed a search warrant on a yard site near Leslie, Saskatchewan. As a result of the Search Warrant approximately 80 dogs were seized due to the condition of the animals.

Charges have been laid against April Irving of Leslie for neglecting to provide suitable food, water, shelter or care for the animals and for causing the dogs to be under distress.

The animals were taken to Saskatoon SPCA, where they are receiving care.

An investigation into the case is ongoing and charges are pending however in the meantime help is needed.

"The cost to rescue these dogs was over $25,000," says Saskat-chewan SPCA Executive

Director Frances Wach.

"Now we are faced with the massive cost for the ongoing care these dogs require. It is costing over $800 a day to take care of these dogs.

"The health and safety of these animals is our primary concern."

Your help is needed today!

Anyone who is willing to assist in any way is urged to contact Saskatoon SPCA at374-7387.
