The Yorkton Sweeney's Selects team hosted the ASCICS Cup 1 for under 18 women over the recent weekend.

Brent Brown, coach of the Selects, says he's put together a formidable team of players from Yorkton, Melville. and Canora.

In tournament play, the Selects hitting caused opposing teams to start tipping a lot against them. "Needless to say our tip defense will be worked on a lot during the next couple of weeks," Brown declares.

The team schedule has the Selects involved in some major competition ahead, Starting with the adult Bongo Volley tournament. Following Bongo Volley they travel to Regina and continue their season all the way to Nationals in Abbotsford .B.C. in mid May, says Brown.

The CBC Cougars of Regina claimed the tournament title with the Tier 1 first place finish.

JCVC Extreme from Saskatoon finished second.

Third were Prince Albert En Seugo.

They were the top three teams and were likely the top three teams going into the tournament, Brown suggests.

In Tier 2 competition, RVC Havoc from Regina finished first, TNT Attack placed second while the Sweeney Selects claimed the bronze medal.

The Yorkton Blitz, also playing in the tournament, finished second in Tier 3 play.

Overall, says Brown, he was very happy with with his team's performance. "I think the team is gelling well together. I expect some good results all throughout the year," he closes.
